Rwanda Producer Inflation Slows to 12.8% in August
Producer prices in Rwanda increased 12.82 percent year-on-year in August 2019, following a 17.25 percent rise in the previous month. Prices advanced at a softer pace for manufacturing (4.05 percent vs 5.38 percent in July) and declined further for mining & quarrying (-20.03 percent vs -12.70 percent). Meanwhile, inflation remained sharp for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (at 90.59 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices fell 1.87 percent, reversing a 2.84 percent gain in the previous month.

Rwanda Producer Inflation Picks Up to 17.25% in July
Producer prices in Rwanda soared 17.25 percent year-on-year in July 2019, following a 11.85 percent jump in the previous month. It is the highest producer inflation since at least December 2011, as prices remained elevated for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (at 90.59 percent) and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (at 32.73 percent). In addition, cost rebounded for manufacturing (5.38 percent vs -1.62 percent) while fell less for mining & quarrying (-12.70 percent vs -15.28 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices inched up 2.84 percent, after decreasing 0.96 percent in the previous month.

Rwanda Producer Inflation Eases to 11.85% in June
Producer prices in Rwanda rose 11.85 percent year-on-year in June 2019, following a 13.75 percent increase in the prior month, as prices fell further for mining & quarrying (-15.28 percent vs -4.01 percent in May) and manufacturing (-1.62 percent vs -0.99 percent). Meantime, cost advanced at the same pace for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (32.73 percent); water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (90.59 percent) and information & communication (3.10 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices declined 0.96 percent, after increasing 0.63 percent in the previous month.

Rwanda Q1 Producer Inflation Highest in Over a Year
Producer prices in Rwanda surged 6.0 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2019, following an upwardly revised 0.2 percent gain in the previous period. It was the highest producer inflation since the third quarter of 2017, as prices remained elevated for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (32.7 percent, the same pace as in Q4) and jumped for water supply (60.4 percent, after being flat in Q4). Meanwhile, cost decreased for mining & quarrying (-6.7 percent vs 8.5 percent) and manufacturing (-3.5 percent vs -4.1 percent). On a quarterly basis, producer prices rose 5.9 percent, after increasing 0.9 percent in the prior period.

Rwanda Producer Prices Fall 0.5% YoY in Q4
Producer prices in Rwanda decreased 0.5 percent year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2018, following a 1.5 percent decline in the previous period. Prices fell less for manufacturing (-4.1 percent vs -5.2 percent in Q4 2017) and advanced faster for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (32.7 percent vs 21.8 percent). Meantime, cost remained flat for water supply while rose at a softer pace for mining & quarrying (8.5 percent vs 8.7 percent). On a quarterly basis, producer prices went up 0.9 percent, after declining 0.5 percent in the prior period.
