Poland Inflation Rate at Over 7-Year High of 3.4%
The annual inflation rate in Poland picked up to 3.4 percent in December 2019 from 2.6 percent in the prior month and well above market expectations of 2.9 percent, preliminary figures showed. It was the highest inflation rate since October 2012, as prices advanced faster primarily for food & non-alcoholic beverages (7 percent vs 6.5 percent in November). Meantime, cost of fuels for personal transport equipment fell much less (-0.2 percent vs -5.4 percent) and prices of electricity, gas and other fuels decreased at the same pace (-1.8 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices inched up 0.8 percent, after increasing 0.1 percent in the previous month.

Poland November Inflation Rate Confirmed at 2.6%
The annual inflation rate in Poland rose to 2.6 percent in November 2019 from 2.5 percent in October, matching a preliminary reading and market expectations. Prices advanced further for food & non-alcoholic beverages (6.5% vs 6.1% in October); housing & utilities (2% vs 1.9%); recreation & culture (3.6% vs 2.6%); and communication (3.7% vs 1%). Meanwhile, cost slowed for miscellaneous goods & services (1.5% vs 1.7%); furniture & household equipment (0.3% vs 0.8%); education (4.6% vs 4.7%); and health (3.1% vs 4%). Additionally, prices fell at a faster pace for transport (-3.4% vs -3%) and clothing & footwear (-1.8% vs -1.7%). Also, inflation was steady for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (at 1.3%); and restaurant & hotels (at 5.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.1 percent, easing from a 0.2 percent gain in the prior month and in line with forecasts.

The annual inflation rate in Poland edged up to 2.6 percent in November of 2019 from 2.5 percent in the previous month, matching market expectations, preliminary figures showed. Prices rose faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (6.5 percent compared to 6.1 percent in October) but continued to fall for utilities (-1.7 percent, the same as in October) and fuels for transport equipment (-5.5 percent compared to -4.7 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices are seen rising 0.1 percent after a 0.2 percent gain in October.

Annual inflation rate in Poland decreased to 2.5% in October from 2.6% in September and in line with preliminary estimates. It was the lowest inflation since May, as cost slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (6.1% from 6.3% in September) and housing & utilities (1.9% from 2.0%) while inflation was steady for recreation & culture (at 2.6%). On the other hand, cost advanced faster for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (1.3% from 1.0%); miscellaneous goods & services (1.7% from 1.3%); communication (1.0% from 0.9%); restaurant & hotels (5.3% from 5.2%); furniture & household equipment (0.8% from 0.5%); education (4.7% from 4.4%) and health (4.0% from 3.9%). Meantime, prices fell further for transport (-3.0% from -1.7%) and clothing & footwear (-1.7% from -1.2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.2%, after showing no growth in September and also matching early estimates.

Poland Annual Inflation Rate Slows to 5-Month Low
Poland’s annual inflation rate fell to 2.5 percent in October of 2019 from 2.6 percent in the previous month, a preliminary estimate showed. It was the lowest inflation rate since May, as cost continued to fall for electricity, gas and other fuels (-1.7 percent vs -1.6 percent in September) and for fuels for personal transport equipment (-4.7 percent vs -2.7 percent) while food & non-alcoholic beverages prices slowed (6.1 percent vs 6.3 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.2 percent from a flat reading in the previous month.

It was the lowest inflation since June, as prices slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (6.3% from 7.2% in August); recreation & culture (2.6% from 2.8%); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (1% from 1.3%) and furniture & household equipment (0.5% from 0.7%). On the other hand, cost advanced faster for housing & utilities (2% from 1.9%); health (3.9% from 3.6%); miscellaneous goods & services (1.3% from 0.7%); restaurant & hotels (5.2% from 4.7%) and education (4.4% from 3.1%). Meantime, cost continued to decrease for clothing & footwear (-1.2% from -1.4%) and transport (-1.7% from -0.2%) while prices rebounded for communication (0.9% from -0.7%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices showed no growth, the same as in the previous month and also matching earlier estimates.
