Kenya Inflation Rate at 4-Month High of 5.56%
The annual inflation rate in Kenya rose to 5.56 percent in November 2019 from 4.95 percent in the previous month. It was the highest inflation rate since July, as prices of food continued to climb (9.58 percent vs 8.74 percent in October). On a monthly basis, consumer prices inched up 0.40 percent, the most since April, after increasing 0.28 percent in the prior month.

Kenya Inflation Rate Inches Up to 4.95%
The annual inflation rate in Kenya rose to 4.95 percent in October 2019 from 3.83 percent in the previous month. Prices increased faster primarily for food and alcoholic beverages, tobacco & narcotics, largely due to recent tax revisions. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.28 percent, after decreasing 0.11 percent in the previous month.

Kenya Inflation Rate Rises Less than Expected
Kenya's inflation rate rose slightly to 5.70 percent year-on-year in June 2019 from 5.49 percent in the previous month, but missing market expectations of 6.40 percent. Food inflation accelerated while housing, transport and clothing prices increased at a slower pace. On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices dropped 0.69 percent, following a 0.07 decline in May.
